the commitment

prelims is not a formal body - it has no membership, no constitution and no joining fee. Rather, prelims is a commitment made by individual publishing-sector companies to show their concern for social accountability standards throughout their supply chain and act upon this concern when making purchasing decisions.

To join the companies that have made this commitment, you will need to follow the steps outlined below:

1. Examine the ICTI Code of Conduct and discuss this with your suppliers. (click here to view the ICTI Code)

2. Examine the prelims resolution, and agree to abide by its contents (click here to view the resolution).

3. Contact an existing member of prelims to discuss any questions you may have (click here for contact details).

4. Have an Officer of your company sign the resolution, and return this to your prelims contact.

Your details will then be added to our list of signatories and you will receive the minutes of our meetings. You will also be able to share information about suppliers and their performance against the CARE standard

The resolution is intended to complement your company's existing Corporate Social Responsibility policy, and transform it from an self-contained process to being an part of an industry-wide initiative that is all the more powerful and meaningful for being so.

All participating publishers agree to abide by its conditions when making purchasing decisions and deciding with which suppliers to contract.
